Mike, Jill and their two daughters Lauren and Nicole have been going to Hana and enjoying the beauty and serenity of Hale Ho’okipa since the early 70’s. Mike and his friends built the home. Mike is a realtor with an office in Wailuku Maui. Lauren, their oldest daughter is a champion paddler and the proud mother of Haena, her 3 year old son. Nicole is a senior at St Anthony High School where she is on the soccer team, pole-vaults and is on the paddling team.
Both Mike and Jill were born on Oahu and moved to Maui in 1977 where they live on a small farm in Kula Maui at 3,600’ elevation. Jill likes to do nature photography. Mike is an avid adventure traveler. Mike has a Hawaiian canoe that he enjoys exploring the sea trails of Hawaii going to all of the islands on canoe camping trips. The family enjoys going camping in the mountains of Hawaii.
Some of the fun activities that the Spalding family enjoys doing in Hana includes going out to Kipahulu and hiking in the National Park, walking to Waioka pond from Hale Ho’okipa and swimming in the pond, playing in the surf at Hamoa Beach, exploring Waianapanapa State Park, hiking from the Hana airport to Waianapanapa State Park, Hiking up to Alalele falls, Part of the National Park, past Kipahulu, and enjoying family meals on the deck looking at the Alenuihaha Channel and the big Island of Hawaii.
Hana has always been a place of recharging batteries and rejuvenation. Being surrounded by so much beauty is very invigorating. We enjoy sharing our home with our friends. We hope that if you have the opportunity to be at Hale Ho’okipa you will enjoy it as much as we do.
